Why I need a Mentor? - WMAD Group

Why I need a Mentor?

Women in Fashion’s approach to mentoring is to provide an amazing selection of experienced mentors approved by us. Women who have had successful careers in the Fashion Industry, and are looking to support the next generation. We offer two levels of support. Senior Mentors who have experience operating at Board Level in large organisations or who have launched and grown a successful business, and have experience mentoring senior executives . And Mentors who have experience in mentoring young executives to plan and develop their careers, make the right career choices, and achieve their maximum potential, or who have started their own business and are happy to share their experience.
We know that there are specific points in any career where some additional guidance and direction can make all the difference. Our mentors can guide and support you to address specific career challenges; develop a more structured approach to your professional executive career; or start your new business the right way.
We also know that it’s important to select the right mentor, to find a good fit. If you feel that after your first session that you have not found the right fit, please contact us and we will arrange for a new mentor that meets your requirements.

1. Why I need a Mentor?
📌 Is your career progressing as you would like?
📌 Could you do with some help and support in achieving your goals?
📌 Do you sometimes feel isolated in a male dominated environment?
📌 Are you looking for a sounding board for your ideas?
📌 Are you wondering how to create a great network and make it work for you?
📌 Would you like some help from an experienced entrepreneur in starting your own business?

For so many women, working long hours, often in male-dominated environments, and trying to juggle the work/family life balance, it is easy to feel isolated or overwhelmed . It’s possible to spend so much time on managing the day-to-day issues and to neglect your own personal and career development.

2. What I get out of Mentoring?

Spending time with a mentor gives you the chance to think about your long- term objectives and focus on how to move your career forward.  Mentors are a confidential, independent sounding board to provide support and guidance, allowing you to put issues into perspective and consider various possibilities. Your mentor is there to help you to think through your options and help you to formulate your plans.  They provide the opportunity to look more closely at yourself, your issues, opportunities and what you want in life.  Mentoring is about becoming more self – aware, taking responsibility and directing your life, rather than leaving it to chance.

A mentor works with you at all stages of your career to:

✂️ Support you to manage career paths and career decisions

✂️ Provide advice on your CV and interview technique

✂️ Help you to overcome a specific issue or ongoing business challenges that you may be facing in your current role.

✂️ Act as a sounding board for ideas and issues.

✂️ Ask you questions and challenge your thinking and actions

✂️ Share experience and knowledge relevant to the matter in hand. This could be of the sector or general professional experience.

✂️ Advise you on how to get the best out of networking

✂️ Help you with personal and leadership development

✂️ Support you in launching or expanding your own business

✂️ Encourage you to achieve your goals

✂️ And work with you on many other goals and objectives.
