Woman of Stature – Category Entrepreneur of the year 2022, and I am a finalist!

I have been nominated as a finalist for the category Entrepreneur of the year 2022.

On the 25th January, the finalists were adjudicated via Zoom.

It gives us pleasure to introduce your esteem panel of Adjudicators.

Shereen Hunter, CEO of Hunter Group.

Experienced Business Owner with a demonstrated history of working in the management consulting industry. Skilled in Strategic Planning, Change Management, Management, Business Strategy, and Leadership. Strong entrepreneurship professional graduated from the University of Witwatersrand.

Dawn Nathan-Jones, CEO of Over the Rainbow

A well-known South African entrepreneur, award-winning business leader, and professional speaker. Dawn’s legacy lies in her role as one of the early pioneers of Imperial Car Rental Group, where she spent over three decades building the business and the Imperial and Europcar SA brand to be globally recognized in the industry. At the end of her illustrious career as CEO, she stepped down and in 2016, launched into reality TV with her role as the only female Shark in the M-Net show, Shark Tank South Africa. Thereafter, Dawn took a more holistic and intentional direction that focused on sharing her 35-year leadership and entrepreneurial journey to help female startups and the youth to become more entrepreneurially minded. She started GroWealth after identifying opportunities to fast track small businesses in South Africa

Professor Shirley Zinn is Non-Executive Board Member on multiple boards.

Dr. Shirley Zinn is the former Group Head of Human Resources at Woolworths Holdings Limited. Prior to this, she was the Head of Human Resources of Standard Bank. She also was head of HR at Nedbank, SARS, and Reckitt Benckiser (Africa & Middle East). She was also an Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria’s Department of Human Resource Management, and a former Adjunct Professor at the University of Cape Town.

She hails from the Cape Flats in Cape Town, and started her career as a secondary school teacher of English, then moved to the University of the Western Cape where she lectured in Teacher Education. She currently serves as an independent non-executive director on several JSE listed Boards (Sanlam, MTN-SA, Advtech, Spur Corp). She also served on the UCT Council and is the Past President for the Harvard Alumni Association, South Africa. She is also the Chairperson of the V&A Waterfront.

The winner will be announced on 12th March 2022 at the Indaba Hotel in Fourways, Johannesburg.

I started WMAD as a leap of faith, whereby a platform could be created to share my skills and employment offers I came across with a growing community. Other members also started sharing opportunities. We would share tips on CVs and Cover letters to online career portals and also advice on interviewing etiquette. Later we offered an affordable Cv writing service and many members over 7 years have been able to find employment and feed their families. We also provide pro-Bono for those in need.
